A desire to be closer to family and grandchildren prompted Dr. and Mrs. Paul Leonard to move to Barrington from New Mexico. For 14 years, Paul and Nancy enjoyed their Santa Fe home where they amassed a significant Southwestern art collection and kept busy outdoors.
Paul, a retired veterinarian, and Nancy raised their two sons in Winnetka, and decided it was time to return to their Midwest roots. They wanted to make the move while they were still married, in good health, and could be in control of their decision-making. After an exhaustive search, the couple landed at The Garlands.
“We were sold on the concept of retirement community living,” said Nancy, who, after an exhaustive search, landed at The Garlands because “it best matched our desire to live in a community that valued wellness and offered a vibrant lifestyle.”
“Our common interests and passion for the outdoors help keep our minds and bodies fit to explore and live each chapter of our lives,” Paul said. These days Paul and Nancy can be found exploring The Garlands 31-acre campus when they’re not busy with other pursuits. Nancy is a grief therapist and Paul is a volunteer mentor for SCORE, a nonprofit dedicated to helping grow small businesses across America.
