Harry Keller is a retired graphic artist from Virginia. His son Steve and daughter-in-law Debbie who live in North Barrington visited The Garlands and fell in love with it. “It just had a level of quality that we liked and knew dad would appreciate,” said Steve.
"The Garlands has been a blessing for our family," said Debbie. “After mom passed away, we had concerns about dad’s safety since he was so far away.” The whole family takes comfort in knowing that The Garlands offers a safety check-in service, that a community of neighbors is nearby and that social outlets and healthy lifestyle alternatives are part of The Garlands culture.
Since he’s been walking and working out regularly at The Garlands, Harry has noticed significant health improvements: he’s much stronger and off many of his medications. Plus, as an added bonus, now that he is closer to family, Harry gets to see grandkids, Bradley and Christie, more often. He and Max treat them to overnights at grandpa’s house, and The Garlands transportation service has even been known to drop the kids off at school the next morning!
Harry adopted his beloved dog Max right before he moved to The Garlands. Pets are more than welcome throughout the first floor of The Garlands, and Max is no exception to the rule. The two go on daily walks together and often stop at the front entrance where Max rolls over and performs tricks for an audience of residents, staff and visitors. Everyone who meets Max is delighted by this canine Garlands member!
