Garlands Inspirational Wellness Advisor, Dr. Sandra Sieber, is a “change agent extraordinaire.” She is on a personal quest to bring Garlands members the best cutting-edge information as it relates to health and wellness.
“It is my life’s passion to inspire and empower others by educating about healthfulness, happiness and feeling well,” she enthuses. “I’m here to help Garlands members feel as positive and as healthy as possible while living in the body with which they were blessed.”
Dr. Sieber’s specialty is preventive physical therapy and restorative exercises, which are gentle movements that help Garlands members ambulate and prevent injury.
“As a preventive physical therapist, I know just how important physical alignment is. Having muscles at their optimal length helps move bones to their proper place and decrease friction between joint surfaces, which leads to less wear and tear and lower risk of osteoarthritis and pain as we age,” says Dr. Sieber.
She recommends her Preventive PT class for anyone who wants to live a long, healthy, pain-free life. Several Garlands members have taken her up on the offer and meet regularly for stretching and strengthening moves to enhance cellular regeneration, decrease joint pain and improve mobility and balance. Participants claim their aches are disappearing and that they’ve become stronger and more mobile since attending class or working out with Dr. Sieber.
Take Garlands member Dick VanEgeren who says that, due to the Garlands Fitness Center—and to Dr. Sieber’s workouts in particular—he is in the best shape of his life. “When you see your body respond this way, you’re motivated to continue,” he says.
A wellness convert, Dick says that Garlands members have the ability to change their lives by coming to the fitness center and working out with Sandra. “My balance and strength have drastically improved and my clothes fit better. I don’t get bored because there are so many options: I can take a class, workout on the equipment or even join a virtual walk to Paris or New Zealand. It feels like entertainment, not exercise.”
Now Dick encourages other Garlands members to join the wellness movement. “I’ve been on the other side, and healthy is much better!”
It is all in a day’s work for change agent extraordinaire, Dr. Sieber!
