The Garlands COVID-19 task force continues to meet regularly to discuss new federal, state, and local guidelines, our current safety precautions, and lessons to be learned from outbreak areas throughout the U.S. and world. The following are highlights of the current policies put in place at The Garlands as they relate to the pandemic (additional guidelines are updated and posted internally for Garlands members and families).
Chicago’s Emergency Travel Order
As a part of our ongoing effort to protect our members and team members, please note that, effective immediately, The Garlands of Barrington will follow Chicago’s emergency travel order.
The emergency travel order directs anyone who visits a state in the U.S. that is currently experiencing a rise in coronavirus cases to quarantine for 14 days from the time of the last contact within the identified state (see Chicago’s emergency travel order website for a complete list of specified states travelers from which travelers should quarantine upon arrival at https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/sites/covid-19/home/emergency-travel-order.html)
Specifically, this impacts Garlands members, team members, and visitors in the following ways:
Members
Members who have visited any one of the designated states (for more than 24-hours) are required to quarantine in their homes for 14 days. These Members are not permitted in any common areas of the community (including the dining rooms, fitness center, performing arts center, or any other common area of the campus).
Team Members
Team Members will be required to obtain permission from their manager prior to any travel outside of Illinois. Team members who do choose to travel to an outbreak state will not be permitted to return to work until completing the 14-day quarantine period.
Visitors
Visitors who have traveled from any of the outbreak states will not be allowed access to The Garlands campus. All visitors will be required to quarantine for 14-days before access is granted.
Symptom Screening
All Garlands members, staff, and visitors must check-in at The Garlands monitoring center for any COVID-19 symptoms before gaining entry/re-entry to the community.
Guests
Guests of Independent Living Members are limited to two people per indoor visit. There are no limits to outdoor visits. Visitors are not allowed in dining venues or other common areas.
Due to space and staffing outdoor visits with Prairieview Members are by appointment only and can be scheduled by contacting Terri Forti, Activities Director at (847) 852-3590 or tforti@thegarlands.com.
Face Coverings and Social Distancing
All Garlands members, team members, and staff are required to wear a face-covering and maintain proper social distancing in common areas and are encouraged to do so throughout the campus.
Thank you for your ongoing efforts to help prevent the spread of this disease and its impact on Garlands members and team members.
