Getting Started

For some people, making the move to a continuing care retirement community is easy: they clearly see the benefits and are ready to make the change. For others, the decision is a tough one that is made more complicated by false preconceptions and old stereotypes.

Change is change. There is no getting around that. But a good place to start moving forward is to free oneself from these myths that tend to cloud the decision.

Making the Decision

Today’s senior living communities, particularly The Garlands, are nothing like the retirement homes of yesteryear.  And frequent concerns of “I’m too young” . . .  “I won’t have any privacy” . . . and “I can’t possibly downsize” are simply myths that couldn’t be further from the truth.

A great starting point for making this decision is listening to the voices of experience from people who have “been there, done that.”  These people can relate to how you feel and share their first-hand experiences with the decision-making process.
