Following the loss of her mother, Beth Bagg, a career senior living professional, found herself in the position of living her job.
Having helped hundreds of families navigate the process of finding the perfect combination of housing and support for an aging loved one, the tables officially turned.
Beth was now the adult daughter who was mourning the loss of her mom while guiding her brothers and father, Gary, through the senior living relocation process.
As they vetted several options, Beth’s family quickly found themselves in the “Goldilocks Paradox” . . . this one was “too fancy,” the next was “too urban,” and the next “too rigid.”
Beth trusted that her dad, a retired executive with discerning taste and humble roots, would know when a community was “just right.” After visiting The Garlands, he did!
Gary preferred The Garlands casually elegant “vibe” the most, and he eventually moved into a first-floor apartment home with a patio and courtyard views.
“The Garlands team did a great job of welcoming dad and making him feel at home,” recalls Beth. “We were really lucky to get the kind of support we did.”
As Gary began connecting with other Garlands members, often over meals in the various Garlands restaurants, he met folks with similar backgrounds and experiences.

“Dad is a bit of a sweets guy, and he loves The Garlands food,” says Beth. “Our family remains impressed with the food too, plus the staff is just amazing — so conscientious and friendly. They do a fantastic job!”

A Continuum of Care that’s “Just Right”
For several years, Beth reports that “We were always very happy with our Garlands experience,” however, following a sudden hospitalization after which short-term rehabilitation was required, Gary and his family discovered just exactly how well they had chosen.
“When most families need immediate, post-hospital care, they have to choose from a list of unknown providers,” says Beth. “We simply transitioned back to a familiar place at Prairieview at The Garlands.”
Prairieview offered member-only, immediate availability and nationally recognized, five-star care, plus Gary and his family were among people who already knew them, their needs, and their preferences.
The same was true when Gary eventually stood to benefit from assisted living support.
“In consultation with the team at Prairieview, they offered the right amount of unrestricted, intermittent care that dad needed, right when he needed it,” says Beth.
Once again, the process was seamless, and The Garlands continuity of care was Goldilocks-approved “just right.”
