Garlands fitness experts, Adrian Fleisher, Bethanie Lochman, and Alex Edmonds, are always up for a good time, and they are ever mindful that inspiration, creativity, and good ole fashioned FUN are key to a healthy lifestyle regardless of age.
That’s why they infuse their traditional fitness offerings, like weightlifting, land and water aerobics, balance classes, Pilates, yoga, Zumba, and Boot Camps, with innovative “extra-curricular” activities.
With a focus on strength, mobility, range of motion, coordination, injury prevention, function, and confidence building, their goal is to help Garlands members put the skills and mindfulness they teach in class to test outside of the fitness center.
“There is a reason behind everything we do here,” says Adrian, who also teaches at Harper College and is earning his PhD in kinesiology. “Garlands members can take these movements and use them in real life to function better on a daily basis.”
From indoor Pickleball training to golf conditioning to total body strength training classes, “We focus on injury prevention and try to make Garlands members stronger and more resilient,” says Alex. He reports that, “Once you are not as worried about falling or getting hurt, you can start enjoying yourself more.”
That’s where the fun, social, and somewhat wacky extensions of the Garlands fitness program—like beer pong, axe-throwing, karaoke aerobics, indoor skydiving, escape room team building, and the occasional “Bring Your Sexy Back” abs and legs classes—fit in.
